Oilers Lose in Montreal

March 10th, 2009

How upsetting…. The Oilers have for only the 2nd time this season when leading after 2 periods as Saku Koivu scored in the 3rd to tie the game and again in OT on the power play to win it.  Since the trade deadline the Oilers have 1 win and 2 OT loses and like last season after the deadline they are being led offensively by the ‘kids’.  Sam Gagner and Andrew Cogliano were the best Oilers tonight and if MacT could take his head out of his ass for a moment he would realize that reuniting the ‘kid’ line may propel the Oilers into the playoffs.

Sheldon Souray changed the game in the 2nd period when he leveled Alex Tanguay in front of the Oilers net. The Oilers seemed to gain energy as they began shooting the puck from everywhere and crashing the net as they went on to outshoot the Habs 17-2 and outscore them 3-1 in the 2nd period.  Unfortunatly Souray didn’t come out for the 3rd period and the Oilers didn’t seem to have the jump in their game.

So here is the winning lineup the Oilers should go with Thursday when they return home:

Kotalik – O’Sullivan – Hemsky

Nilsson – Gagner – Cogliano

Penner – Horcoff – Pisani

Pouliot – Brodziak – Stortini
