2008 Draft results

June 20th, 2008

With the 22nd overall pick in the 2008 NHL entry draft the Edmonton Oilers have chosen center Jordan Eberle. The 5’10″, 174 lbs 18 year old played with Regina in the WHL last season scoring 42 goals and 33 assists for 75 points in 70 games. He may not be NHL ready for a couple of more season but when he is he will bring pure goal scoring ability to compliment players such as Ales Hemsky and Sam Gagner. The 1st round of the draft was completed tonight with subsequent rounds set to resume tommorow. The Oilers next pick will not be untill the 4th round (104 overall) but there are rumors that there may be some deals made so we’ll see what happens.  One rumor has the Carolina Hurcains interested in restricted free agent Joni Pitkannon offering the likes of Eric Cole in return.
