Should he Stay or Should he go?
Sam Gagner signed a 3 year entry level contract on October first and has been given a huge opportunity with the Oilers. In the first 3 games of the season Gagner has 2 assists and is tied for 5th in team scoring. Its pretty obvious watching him play both in the Russia Canada series and the first 3 games of the season that he is a highly skilled player who can make things happen on the ice. He certainly could make the difference in alot of games for a team that desperatly needs highly skilled forwards. So will the Oilers keep Gagner in the NHL or will they send him back to the London Knights to play the rest of the season in Junior?
Gagner did a lot of traveling this summer in the super series with Russia and he is not accustomed to the physical play the NHL brings, so I ask, will Sam Gagner run out of gas before the season is over? If the Oilers send him back to London before he plays 10 games they will save a year of his contract with Gagner starting year one of the contract next year. So as excited I am watching this kid play in the NHL I think his days are numbered, he has 6 more games to play. After all someone needs to come out of the line up when Ethan Moreau returns.
The Voice.
You are right. Send him back to junior and let him develop. He is a star of the future and this is a rebuilding year for the oilers.
